LOCATION OF KABALE TOWN, UGANDA

Kabale Town is located in the Western Region of Uganda. It serves as the district headquarters in the Kabale District. The town lies approximately 142 kilometers (88 miles) South-West of Mbarara and about 410 kilometers (250 miles) South-West of Kampala, Uganda’s capital City. Its coordinates are approximately 01°15’00"S latitude and 29°59’24"E longitude. Kabale sits at an elevation of 2,000 meters (6,600 feet) above sea level, offering scenic views of the surrounding hills and Lake Bunyonyi.

POPULATION OF KABALE TOWN, UGANDA

As of 2020, the estimated mid-year population of Kabale Town in Uganda is approximately 53,200. However, more recent estimates suggest that by 2024, the population has increased to around 56,489 people. Kabale's growth rate has been steady, making it an interesting and vibrant place to explore.

SOME HISTORY OF KABALE TOWN, UGANDA

Kabale, situated in the Western Region, boasts a picturesque landscape with rolling hills and lush greenery. The town is home to the vibrant Bakiga people, who have shaped its culture and heritage.

The name “Kabale” itself holds significance. It derives from a local iron piece so massive that it became a point of fascination. People from distant places would travel to see and handle this “small stone,” which eventually lent its name to the town.
