5 Days Eastern Uganda Adventure Tour | Mount Elgon, Sipi Falls & Pian Upe Safari Tour
This 5-day Eastern Uganda adventure begins in Kampala and travels east to:
Mbale: A vibrant, fast-growing hub in Uganda's Eastern Region, serving as the main administrative, commercial, and cultural center for the surrounding area.
Kapchorwa: A charming highland town in Uganda's Eastern Region, serving as the administrative, commercial, and cultural heart of the Sebei sub-region.
Mount Elgon National Park: One of Uganda's most spectacular and underrated protected areas, a vast, ancient extinct volcano straddling the Uganda-Kenya border in the Eastern Region.
Mount Elgon National Park home to Africa's eighth-highest peak, Wagagai at 4,321 m (a.s.l.), and boasts the world's largest intact volcanic caldera (about 40 km across), formed from millions of years of erosion on this massive shield volcano that first erupted around 24 million years ago.
Pian Upe Wildlife Reserve: Uganda's second-largest protected area after Murchison Falls National Park, spanning approximately 2,043–2,788 km² in the remote Karamoja sub-region of northeastern Uganda, north of Mount Elgon.
Pian Upe Wildlife Reserve is a vast, semi-arid savanna landscape with acacia woodlands, rolling plains, rocky outcrops (like Mount Kadam at 3,063 m), and seasonal swamps, offering a true wilderness feel that's far less visited than Uganda's western parks like Rwenzori or Semuliki.
This tour is designed for adventure lovers who enjoy hiking, scenic landscapes, and wildlife encounters.
You will explore Wanale Hill for sweeping views of Mbale City, hike to the spectacular Sipi Falls on the slopes of Mount Elgon, trek within Mount Elgon National Park, often referred to as the “Mountain of Illusion”, and enjoy game drives in Pian Upe Wildlife Reserve, one of Uganda’s most scenic savannah ecosystems.
The tour blends adventure, nature, and wildlife while offering comfortable overnight stays and guided experiences led by knowledgeable local guides.
