The well-appointed Crater Safari Lodge Kibale Forest National Park Fort Portal is situated in a prime location on a hill overlooking the second largest crater lake in Uganda.

Crater Safari Lodge , Kibale Forest National Park is located within 7 km from the Kibale Forest National Park, Crater Safari Lodge offers luxury accommodation and features a swimming pool with scenic surrounding landscapes.

The units offer a seating area, fireplace and a mosquito net is draped over the bed. Each unit has a private entrance, as well as a balcony or patio offering views of the garden.

At Crater Safari Lodge, Kibale Forest National Park there is a restaurant, bar and lounge. Other facilities include a craft shop, mobile spa facility and a campfire area where guests can relax and enjoy views of the Crater Lake.

Activities and excursions range from cultural tours, butterfly collection, fishing, birding ,hiking and Chimpanzee tracking.

Crater Safari Lodge has been designed in such a way that it doesn’t intrude on its pristine surrounds, and is a solar powered eco-friendly lodge.

The camp is sprawled across lawns and lush vegetation resting on the banks of the second largest crater lake in Uganda. Wooden thatched chalets with expansive wooden balconies provide the perfect luxurious jungle escape, and garden swings dotted between chalets offer private places for relaxation.

Crater Safari Lodge is in a remote area and the journey to paradise is long, but scenic

The quickest route is by air. Guests can fly into the main Entebbe International Airport (EBB) and catch a connecting flight to Kasese.

From here, a road transfer to the lodge can be arranged and will take approximately two to three hours, depending on the road conditions.

Alternatively, guests can get a road transfer with a private driver from Entebbe to Crater Safari Lodge. This can take anything from 5 - 7 hours.

Crater Lake Views

The views from the lodge are breathtaking, and the rooms (deluxe chalets or standard cabanas) either have a full or partial view of the crater lake below.

Guests have the choice of staying in deluxe thatched chalets with expansive wooden balconies, or pool facing standard cabana rooms. Rooms, whether deluxe or standard, provide the perfect luxurious jungle escape.

All accommodation has partial or full views of the tranquil crater lake and its pristine surrounds. The cabanas have views of the lawns, the pool and extend over the crater lake.

The chalet’s timber balconies either have chairs or couches, and 3 of them have hammocks. All rooms, including the standard cabanas, have some sort of lounge and relaxation area.

The charges below only apply to 100% advance payment on accommodation. If you only paid the required 1 night deposit, this won’t be refunded.

25% if cancelled four days in advance.
50% if cancelled two or three days in advance.
50% if few of the total booked rooms are cancelled.
100% if cancelled one day prior to booking or on the same day.

• Cancellation fees are levied when guests cancel confirmed reservations. The costs of the cancellation fees will escalate the closer the guest/s cancels to their confirmed departure date.

• Should a cancellation be made more than 8 weeks prior to departure, the non-refundable deposit of 20% is forfeited.

• Should a cancellation be made between 4 & 8 weeks prior to departure - 50% cancellation fees apply.

• Should a guest cancel less than 4 weeks or 31 days prior to departure - 100% cancellation fees apply.

In case of any cancellation the tax (VAT) of 18% on the advance will have to be retained as it is to be paid by us to the authorities by the 15th of the next month.

Note:

Any postponement of the booking will be treated as a cancellation and will be governed by the Cancellation Policy.

Refunds only through cheque for bookings made by cash/cheque/bank transfer.
Online refunds for bookings made through the online payment system usually take 3-5 working days.

In case of LPO payment is expected within 30 days after which 5% interest applies per week.

Check-In and Check-Out: At Crater Safari Lodge Kibale Forest National Park Fort Portal, guests can check-in from 02:00 PM, allowing plenty of time to settle in and start exploring all that Fort Portal has to offer.

The check-out time is until 10:00 AM, giving guests ample time to enjoy a leisurely breakfast or wrap up any last-minute activities before departing.

Child Policy: Please note that Crater Safari Lodge Kibale Forest National Park Fort Portal does not allow children to stay free of charge. Extra charges may apply for children staying at the hotel.

The hotel management is committed to ensuring a peaceful and relaxing environment for all guests, and additional charges may be necessary to accommodate children.

Chimpanzee Tracking The most favorite of Kibale’s walks embarks from the Kanyanchu Visitor center at 08.00 & 15.00 and lasts 2 to 3 hours. With over 95% chance of seeing the chimps, Kibale Forest is the best destination in the whole of East Africa for seeing the chimpanzees. Other primates like the Red-Colobus Monkeys, Mangabey … might be spotted. On your track, the ranger will explain you more about the animals and plants species you encounter. Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary Rich in biodiversity and beautiful scenery, the wetland is a birder’s paradise with about 138 species. Located outside the park in Magombe Swamp it hosts eight species of primates. The Walk is an initiative of the villagers of Bigodi. The revenues go towards community projects. Children's Forest Camp This walk in the national park is specially designed for children who are too young to participate in the chimp tracking. While the parents enjoy their chimpanzee experience, the young ones will go for a forest walk and learn more about the ecosystem, followed by creative activities and games.

Bird Watching Experience It is an interesting activity that may take you around to 2-3 hrs from Chimpanzee Forest Lodge and walk around the three crater lakes to point out spots for birds.

There are so many beautiful species of birds around these areas including water birds too. For example, black-and-white-casqued hornbills, crowned hornbills, malachite kingfishers, woodland kingfishers, blue breasted giant kingfishers, turacos, robin charts, and many more species.

Exploration of the Crater Lakes The stretch between Fort Portal and Kibale Forest is known as the crater lakes region. Here you can simply enjoy the beauty of the numerous small lakes and the stunning views.

Mahoma Waterfalls Visit the hidden Mahoma waterfall as you walk through the villages from the Batoro tribe.

Tea Plantation Experience A walk that takes between 1 -2 hrs. mainly walking through the tea fields and interacting with the locals while they harvest tea and care at the nursery beds.

It’s a very special experience where the locals try to teach and explain the whole process of growing and harvesting tea. You also learn about different types of tea and their gestation period.
