Full Day Rafting Package – Grade 3, River Nile
FULL DAY RAFTING PACKAGE - GRADE 3, RIVER NILE
ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION
TIME: 4-5 Hours Rafting (12 Years and above)
The grade 3 offers a Milder experience of the Nile, compared to our popular grade 5 option.
Choose to paddle as part of a team or opt for a softer option and be rowed downstream by our professional guides in the safety raft.
How our rafting trip works with children – We can take teenagers as young as 12 years under the following conditions.
They must fit into an adult life jacket | They are aware that there is a compulsory walk around two rapids | They will do a Grade 3 trip, where they either run in the safety raft or in a paddle boat that will run the rapids, but do conservative lines | All teenagers will be vetted by the Trip Leader or Ops Manager on the morning of the trip to make sure they know what they are in for. This is still a fun trip, as they run alongside the Grade 5 trip and enjoy all the action, but for Responsible Tourism Company, safety is of paramount importance to us and the youngsters are not an exception to this.
Rafting with Responsible Tourism Company, you get so much more safety, fun, enjoyment and service.
Rafting and any water activities on the Nile comprises of getting wet! Wearing adequate clothing for this and to also protect you from the sun is important. Draw string shorts help to keep your modesty intact if you swim in the fast currents! Full piece bathing suits are the preferred choice for women as bikinis can become compromised when navigating the rapids. We suggest all our rafters to not wear shoes in the raft, as these can be lost in the water.
Wearing contact glasses should not stop you enjoying a rafting experience but be prepared they may become a part of the River Nile if you should enjoy a flip! We advise people (who wear contacts) not to sit near the front of the boat and to wear sunglasses but please note that you will need a tight strap and we do NOT provide these.
Your travel insurance should specify cover for Whitewater rafting.
Bring lots of sunscreen and keep applying this during the day!
We recommend you take a small bag with a towel and a change of clothes for the end of the day, this will be kept on our vehicle and meet you at the finish point.
It is summer all year-round in Uganda. The country straddles the equator which means there is no winter and no summer and you can come at any time of the year. Temperatures in most parts of the country vary between 25°C and 30°C (77°F and 86°F) dropping only by 5°C overnight. Traditionally May and November are the wetter months in the country where morning cloud build – ups are followed by torrential rain and spectacular thunder and lightning shows. 99% of Ugandans do not own raincoats because the storms are usually short.
We highly recommend booking in advance as Responsible Tourism Company trips often run to capacity. An advance booking will guarantee you a place on the raft.
