The annual eco-conscious marathon continues to grow as one of Uganda’s most impactful sports tourism and conservation events, combining fitness with environmental responsibility.

Running for Conservation and Community Impact

This year’s marathon focused on raising funds for critical environmental initiatives, including:

Reforestation of Mayuge Forest:

  • Supporting the restoration of approximately 247 acres (100 hectares) of degraded forest land in Mayuge District

Plastic Pollution Control:

  • Expanding the installation of plastic trap gates across drainage channels in Kampala and Jinja that feed into Lake Victoria and the River Nile

These efforts aim to reduce pollution, restore ecosystems, and protect water sources that are vital for both communities and wildlife.
