Uganda Canton Fair 2026

Uganda Makes Strong Impression at Canton Fair 2026 with New Export Opportunities

Uganda’s delegation is actively showcasing the country’s potential at the Canton Fair (Phase 3, Day 1) in Guangzhou, China, one of the world’s largest trade exhibitions.

The participation comes at a historic moment: from May 1st, 2026, China granted zero tariffs to 53 African Least Developed Countries, including Uganda.

This landmark policy is expected to significantly boost Uganda’s exports and strengthen economic ties with China and over 100 other countries represented by sourcing agents and importers at the fair.

Key Ugandan products gaining momentum include:

  • Traditional powerhouse coffee
  • Fast-growing categories such as avocados, pineapples, dried fruits, chili, sesame, cocoa, and other high-demand agri-products

Uganda’s Consul General in Guangzhou, Ambassador Juju Nsababera, emphasized the importance of value addition, meeting international quality standards, and export diversification to fully capitalize on this opportunity.

One promising conversation at the fair highlighted freeze-dried jackfruit as a potential high-value export, noting strong local consumption of jackfruit across Chinese cities.
