This exciting event offers wildlife discovery, interactive conservation learning, and family-friendly activities as a vibrant preview to the official launch of the centre on Friday, June 12th, 2026.

UWEC–Mbale is the first in a network of Regional Wildlife Conservation Education Centres being established by the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) across the country.

Future centres are planned for Gulu, Mbarara, and Kyenjojo. These locations were strategically chosen for their accessibility, population coverage, and proximity to distinctive yet vulnerable wildlife species, with the goal of bringing conservation education directly to communities nationwide.

Visitors to today’s free entry event will enjoy hands-on experiences with Uganda’s rich biodiversity, engaging exhibits, and educational programs designed to inspire a deeper connection with nature and stronger participation in wildlife conservation efforts.
