LOCATION OF KAPCHORWA TOWN, UGANDA
Kapchorwa is a town in the Eastern Region of Uganda. It serves as the main municipal, commercial, and administrative center of Kapchorwa District. It is located in the Sebei sub-region, Kapchorwa lies approximately 65 kilometers (40 miles) North-East of Mbale, the largest city in the Eastern Region.
Additionally, it is about 310 kilometers (190 miles) northeast of Kampala, Uganda’s capital and largest city. The town sits at an elevation of 5,900 feet (1,800 meters) above sea level and is known for its successful running athletes, including Olympic and world championship medalists like Joshua Cheptegei, Jacob Kiplimo, and Stephen Kiprotich. Due to its high altitude, Kapchorwa is often referred to as a “running paradise” .
