The Bbanga Environmental Community Run will take place at Lutoboka Bay, Buggala Island (Ssese Islands) on Saturday 4th May 2024.
Bbanga Project is an Ugandan-Austrian NGO mainly focusing on education, climate action and women empowerment in Ssese Island’s largest habitated island of Buggala in Lake Victoria, the world’s largest freshwater fishery.
The non-for-profit biggest projects in Ssese Islands are a community farm, the construction of a nursery and primary school and the women’s hub Bakyala Tukole in Lutoboka Bay of Buggala Island.
The 2024 Bbanga Environmental Community Run aims to raise awareness on climate change and environmental responsibility while putting light on the importance of doing sports.
The charity sporting event will be a fun event where the island’s native residents and visitors compete in the annual marathon.
With focus on the running competition and engagement in environment protection, the Bbanga Project promises to distribute trees to the participants in the marathon run and has prizes for the fastest runners.
