In a ground-breaking move set to transform tourism in one of Uganda’s most remote and beautiful regions, President Yoweri Museveni on June 5th, 2026, officially launched the construction of Kidepo International Airport in Karenga District, northeastern Uganda.
The new international airport, located near Kidepo Valley National Park, is expected to significantly improve access to this iconic safari destination, which is currently one of the least visited due to its remote location.
