Following the Ethiopian Airlines B737 landing incident on the morning Thursday 03 Jan on landing overshot the main runway of Entebbe International Airport, causing the immediate cancellation of all other landings and take offs and prompting a series of flight diversions and cancellations.
According to infomation obtained, the Ethiopian Airlines aircraft with 139 people on board, had to be deboarded on site and passengers and crew were bussed to the terminal. None of those onboard suffered any injuries.
An air accident investigation is now underway in order to determine what caused the potentially fatal situation.
The Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has announced on their Twitter handle (@UgandaCAA) that the Ethiopian Airlines flight no. ET 338, a Boeing 737-800 Aircraft, which overshot the runway on landing at 12.41 am, was removed from the runway end at 10.15 am on Thursday 04 Jan, and flight operations resumed.
The Uganda CAA has advised passengers to proceed with their scheduled flight in and out of Entebbe International Airport.
