Located 12km from Entebbe and 16km from Kampala, Avocado Bay is a beautiful lake-side private retreat with both indoor accommodation and camping provisions.
Surrounded by Lake Victoria on three sides, it has extensive lawns and woodlands. Our friendly staff provide a relaxing ambience and a buffet breakfast is included in the room rate.
Our African themed comfortable rooms have private bathrooms and four-poster beds. Complimentary fast WiFi, tea/coffee tray and tropical fruit basket are provided.
Our serviced cottage (which can be self-catering) lies on rocks right upon the lake and is surrounded by the lake, accessible through a mini bridge.
The sprawling 10-acre property with forest and lake naturally attracts plenty of wild life - butterflies, monkeys, dozens of bird species, squirrels and monitor lizards can occasionally be sighted along the shores. For a small fee, our guests can treat themselves to rod fishing by the lake rocks, enjoy boat rides, outdoor fire chats at night, nature walks or make use of the watch tower to see surrounding islands, Kampala city, Munyonyo, Garuga and Bwerenga peninsulas.

The Lookout Point
Perched at the very top of the Retreat House, this room boasts an unparalleled 360 view of the lake. Its bright breezy feel and African themed decor makes it a consistent favourite for visitors to the Bay.
At this height the noise of the waves and birds become more of a background hum, giving the room a peaceful ambiance with a stunning backdrop, especially during sunrise and sunset. It’s an ideal vantage point to watch the local fishing boats passing by, as well as flocks of exotic birds flying below.
Even the bathroom embedded into the corner of the room has a spectacular view, with the lush green Namiryango island to the south standing out against the blue of the lake. Ideal as a romantic getaway for couples, or for solo travellers wanting a unique experience of Lake Victoria.

The Bird Hideout
This secluded guest room is tucked away at the side of the Retreat House. It has a peaceful veranda overlooking a steep rock garden which trails down to the lake.
For this reason it is a favourite spot for our birdwatching guests, with the overhanging trees attracting a diversity of spectacular East African birdlife.
It is also enjoyed by guests who are simply looking for a tranquil and private location set back from the lake. So if you want an idyllic hideaway vacation, or you’re a budding ornithologist, we would highly recommend this room.
