Lilly Ajarova Appointed New CEO for Uganda Tourism Board

Lilly Ajarova has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB), the Ugandan government agency that is charged with promoting the country as a tourism destination, replacing Stephen Asiimwe, who served the agency for seven years. Asiimwe recently resigned to pursue further studies.

Ajarova was appointed to the ED Board’s position on 10 January 2019. Her appointment was announced by the Uganda State minister for tourism, Godfrey Kiwanda.

Mr Kiwanda Godfrey Ssubi also announced the appointment of Mr Ochieng Bradford, the Director Corporate Affairs at Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Authority, as the UTB deputy chief executive officer, replacing Mr John Ssempebwa.

Ajarova has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Sciences from Makerere University, with a major in Psychology. She was previously Executive Director of the Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary and Wildlife Conservation Trust and prior to this she held the position of Tourism Product Manager at Uganda Wildlife Authority.

Ajarova is the recipient of the National Golden Jubilee Award 2015, Tourism Excellence Award 2017 and Wildlife Conservation Award 2017.
