MV Kalangala Resumes Entebbe – Kalangala Operations

MV Kalangala ferry plies Entebbe Nakiwogo – Kalangala route daily. Nation Oil Distributors Limited, the operator of the MV Ship, announced the restart  of MV Kalangala operations on 01 October 2020. The ferry last served the route in February 2020

Just like accommodation providers in the floating Ssese Islands are limiting guest numbers and meeting attendee numbers, MV Kalangala vessel operators will take steps to adhere to ministry of health and WHO healthy and safety protocols setup to restore confidence build and trust among travellers to Uganda island destination

According to Mr. Musoke Sadala, Nation Oil Distributors Limited’s CEO “MV Kalangala shall now operate while observing COVID- 19 measures and guidelines. Passengers shall be subjected to thorough paramount temperature checks, wearing of masks, sanitizing and washing of hands as well as social distancing in the seating format.

All passengers should book their travel a day or two in advance, be on time and check-in for travel an hour or more before departure to avoid any inconveniences. – Mr. Musoke Sadala said,

The MV Kalangala Ferry Service Schedule Post Lock Down

The travel or departure time from Lutoboka Bay in Kalangala is 8:00 AM , arriving at Nakiwogo pier in Entebbe 11:30 am (3hr 35min travel). MV Kalangala ferry return journey to from Nakiwogo pier at 2:00 pm to docking at Lutoboka bay on Buggala Island in Kalangala at 5:30 daily. MV Kalangala will service the Entebbe and Buggala Island in the Ssese Islands archipelagos daily.

How To Get to from Entebbe to Kalangala

The distance between Entebbe and Kalangala is 47 km. Visitors can travel from Kalangala to Entebbe or Entebbe to Kalangala without a car. The best way to get from Kalangala to Entebbe without a car is to car ferry which takes 3h 35m and costs $9.

MV Ssese and MV Pearl – the two passenger and vehicle ferry connecting Kalangala with the mainland near Masaka at Bukakata are operated by Kalangala Infrastructure Services (KIS), a company contracted by the Government of Uganda to assist in the provision of lifeline services to Buggala Island. Both MV Pearl and MV Ssese provide alternative connection for visitors and cargo to/from Buggala Island (Bugoma pier) and the mainland at Bukakata pier in Masaka
