New Erebero Hills Lodge in Bwindi: Sustainable Bamboo Luxury Opens for Gorilla Trekking in 2026

Uganda’s premier gorilla trekking destination is set to welcome a striking new addition. Erebero Hills Lodge, developed by award-winning operator Asilia Africa, is rapidly taking shape in the misty hills of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Erebero Hills Lodge, whose name means “a place where you can see far,” promises breathtaking panoramas and immersive forest experiences when it opens in August 2026.

Recent progress updates shared on social media showcase the innovative use of bamboo and locally inspired design.

The architecture features organic, wave-like structures elevated on stilts that blend seamlessly into the lush montane forest.

Large windows, curved wooden decks, and shingled roofs highlight a commitment to sustainability while delivering high-end comfort for discerning travellers.

A Haven for Gorilla Trekking and Nature Lovers

Located on the northern edge of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, a UNESCO World Heritage Site home to more than half the world’s remaining mountain gorillas, Erebero Hills Lodge offers direct access to prime trekking sectors in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Guests can expect just eight exclusive suites, each with en-suite bathrooms offering forest views, spacious balconies, indoor/outdoor showers, Wi-Fi, and in-room spa services.

The lodge sits on 45 acres of reforested land and will include reforestation walks, garden tours, and community-focused activities in partnership with local organisations.

This focus on responsible development sets a new standard for luxury eco-tourism in Uganda.
