Uganda Civil Aviation Authority in conjunction with Ministry of Works and Transport- Maritime department held search and rescue sensitisation workshops in Ntungamo and Isingiro districts on 11th and 12th February, 2025 respectively.
The workshops enhanced awareness among the public about search and rescue which is a service rendered to people in distress in case of an unfortunate air or water incident. The workshops aim at preparing key stakeholders.
Search and rescue is a national obligation which involves the utilisation of available resources to locate, remove and provide initial medical and humanitarian assistances to those in need.
The Deputy Resident District Commissioner Isingiro, Mr. Dennis Mutungi Mugyenyi, and his Ntungamo counterpart, Mr. Isaiah Kanyamahane Byaruhanga presided over the opening of the workshops in their respective districts. Participants were drawn from the Uganda Police, Local Government leadership, medical personnel, headteachers and the Uganda Redcross among others.
