Video: Musambwa, an island on Lake Victoria in Uganda, is inhabited only by men – and snakes. About a thousand deadly cobras inhabit the island – seen by the fishermen who live there as spirits, rather than just snakes.
According to NatureUganda, Musambwa Island support large populations of congregatory breeding birds of the African race like the Grey Headed Gull, Greater Cormorant, Little Egret and the Long-tailed Cormorant among others.
According to Birdlife Org. Musambwa Island is ranked and recognized as an important breeding site for the Grey headed Gull in Africa and being a site of great importance for eco-tourism. The Musambwa island have continued to receive funding support from development partners.
