Restart Tourism: Uganda Tourism Board Host Grading and Classification Sensitisation Workshops for Accommodations

Uganda Tourism Board (short for UTB), the state-run destination marketing organization with the responsibility to market Uganda and promote Uganda as the preferred tourism destination for domestic, regional and international visitors, are  be conducting a national grading and classification of accommodation facilities in Uganda.

According to Uganda Tourism Board, the regional workshop on grading and classification for hospitality operators are designed to help them open Uganda tourism up in a safe, seamless and responsible manner.

This is a National grading and classification exercise of accommodations which will be crowned by awarding of star ratings to facilities that will be found compliant to the minimum standards.

According to Uganda Tourism Board, the accommodation Grading and Classification exercise will improve the competitiveness of our Uganda both regionally and internationally. It is important to note that UTB is mandated by government inspect all travel and accommodation companies in Uganda to ensure that they conform to the best standards

As an effort to prepare the accommodation and hotel owners in Uganda for classification exercise, Uganda Tourism Board in partnership with Uganda Hotel Owners Association (UHOA) will be conducting sensitization workshops in different regions of the Uganda. These include; Entebbe, Kampala City, Jinja City, Gulu City, Arua City, Mbarara City and Fort Portal City.

The workshops are focused on sensitizing of the Uganda Hotel owners about the requirements and the entire process of classification. The workshops will enable hotel and hotel owners to prepare better for the forth coming grading and classification exercises.

INVITATION AND DATES FOR NATIONAL GRADING AND CLASSIFICATION OF ACCOMMODATION FACILITIES IN UGANDA

Uganda Tourism Board has put together an invitation letter to the sensitization workshops, dates and venues for each of the accommodation / hotel operators in the 8 regions of Uganda.

Participants in the workshop on grading and classification of accommodations are encouraged to carry the hotel certificate of incorporation and TIN registration certificate to help Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) start the registration process.
