Pian Upe Wildlife Reserve is one of Uganda’s largest protected areas, covering approximately 2,275 square kilometers. Located in the Karamoja subregion in northeastern Uganda, this attraction is the second-largest conservation area in the country after Murchison Falls National Park. The reserve is managed under the Uganda Wildlife Authority and forms part of the Mount Elgon Conservation Area, alongside Matheniko and Bokora Wildlife Reserves.

Trip highlights of the 3 Day Wildlife and Cultural Safari Tour to Pian Upe Wildlife Reserve, Uganda
Day 1: Kampala to Pian Upe (Travel and Evening Game Drive)
Embark on an evening game drive (around 4:00 PM). Look for giraffes (reintroduced in 2019), zebras, hartebeests, roan antelopes, and possibly leopards. The golden-hour lighting will make for stunning photography.
Day 2: Full Day in Pian Upe (Game Viewing, Hiking, and Cultural Visit)
Start with an early morning game, Visit Napedet Cave for a guided hiking tour. After lunch, engage in a cultural tour with the Karamojong community
Day 3: Pian Upe Wildlife Reserve to Kampala (Morning Birding and Return)
Go for a birding tour- Pian Upe is home to over 242 bird species, including the Fox’s weaver, Uganda’s only endemic bird. Bring binoculars!
Leave Pian Upe by 9:00 AM to return to Kampala.
