Itinerary
Day 1: Visit Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary
We get to converge in Kampala to do some early morning shopping before setting off at around 10:00am. The first item on the list is a camera to capture all the special moments so as to be able to share them with the world. Using the Gulu highway we start our expedition, making our first stop at Migyera where we get to buy some refreshments. As soon as we arrive at the sanctuary we take some time off for lunch and thereafter check-in at one of the sanctuary lodges where we are to spend a night. Shortly after, we start on touring the site which is the only place in the country, where one can, observe the Southern White Rhinos in the wild. At dawn, We take a canoe safari in search for aquatic birds where we also exploit the opportunity shooting spectacular photos whose beauty seems to be overly enhanced by the dramatic sunrise.
Day 2 & 3: Visit Murchison Falls National Park
By 10:00am we are ready to proceed to the next location. In exhilaration we set off, driving through the Southern route entry gate- Kichubanyobo and arriving within just one hour. Most exciting on our agenda are the water falls which are said to be the strongest in the world, emitting around 300 cubic meters per second causing perpetual trembling of the ground leaving the tourists in astonishment. We then prepare to go on a boat cruise that will take us as close as possible to the falls. There is no better description of fun than this and the pictures taken are priceless! The boat cruise starts from Paraa jetty landing site, with a duration of 4-5 hours. The site has a wide range of accommodation options.
Day 4: Aruu Falls
At 10:00am we embark on our journey to one of Uganda's most beautiful falls using the Gulu-Kampala highway. The distance approximately226km so we anticipate to arrive within the next four hours. After several kilometres of constant driving we then stop at Kamdini where we get to shop a number of items to use on our trip. Some of the items include pure natural honey, sim sim paste, groundnut paste and lots of fruits. As soon as we arrive in Agago, we break for lunch at one of the town restaurants before proceeding to the Falls, Located along Agago river that flows from Agago district, Aruu falls are some of Uganda's hidden treasures. Located within a forest and a ragged rocky area the falls are a perfect destination for those who love thrill. The falls create an amazing view as the water splashes off the rocks in a beautiful sheet of falling water. The roaring of the falls creates a dramatic melody that is unceasing as if designed to keep tourists entertained. The site is also perfect for photography, trekking among others. site can be accessed from Angagura trading centre. At 7:00pm we locate one of the town hotels for meals and accommodation.
Day 5 & 6: Visit Kidepo Valley National Park
By 10:00am we are ready to begin the journey to Kidepo via the Kidepo-Gulu road. The distance is approximately 186km and at almost 2 hours on the road we stop at Acholibur for some bites and refreshments. Here, we also get an opportunity to chitchat with the locals while we take some photos. By one o'clock we arrive in Karenga for lunch then proceed to the National Park. The park is a rugged Savannah dominated by Mount Morungole and bisected by two rivers, Kidepo and Narus. Game drives, community and nature walks are some of the activities we can not afford to miss out. Lonyii summit hiking, guided night drives are an amazing experience, Tourist accommodation at the park includes a rest camp run by the Uganda Wildife Authority and other lodges.
Day 7: Visit Mount Moroto
At 9:00am we set off via the Kotido-Kabong road and in about two hours we take a few minutes of relaxation at Locherep. We arrive at Metheniko Game reserve two hours later and immediately hire a tour guide. The Reserve stands out for its beautiful landscape, unique vegetation, mountains and rocky outcrops. We then proceed to Moroto where we shall have lunch at one of the preferred restaurants before heading to the mountain. Mount Moroto is the highest mountain in the Karamoja region and one of the most beautiful in the North-Eastern part of Uganda making it a perfect place for camping, hiking and mount climbing. Due to its relatively low elevation the mountain requires no special equipment and expertise to climb however, guides are available. The region around Mount Moroto is a forest reserve measuring around 480 Sq km.
Day 8: Travel back to Kampala
After the long fun filled expedition the team will retire back home but with lots of memories and stories to share, The team will travel via the Gulu-Kampala highway making stopovers in the following towns and markets; Soroti, Lira and Kamdini.
