When joining a Kampala city or Entebbe town day tour, you will most probably visit a Muganga or a traditional healer, a person of great importance to Bantu-speaking people (Baganda, Basoga, Banyoro).

Visitors will visit the practice of a Muganga in the Mpigi Township. Not for a cure against some illness, but to see with your own eyes how a Muganga operates and how such a practice would look.

The traditional doctor’s house (shrine) are usually a small typical Ugandan mud and brick dwelling. On a busy day, the compound is crowded with people, all waiting for the traditional healer to give them advise on whatever illness or health issue, just like in a western doctors practice but than in a completely different setting.

And different medication and treatments: hanging from walls and the ceilings you will see everything from dried herbs to snake skins and many other items.

When we you’re there, time permitting if the muganda is no in 'consultation', you will have the opportunity to talk to him/her.

Go on a walking tour to a bbaala (local pub) and maybe taste local beer! You will enjoy the small group tour which remains personal and intimate. There are plenty of opportunities to ask questions and engage with local members of the communities.

Visiting a Ugandan Muganga or traditional healer is one of the highlights of the city tours in Entebbe Town or Kampala City.
