Turkish Airlines places order for 10 additional Airbus A350-900

Turkish Airlines, Turkey’s premier national flag carrier, has chosen to expand its fleet with an additional 10 Airbus A350-900 aircraft. With this latest acquisition, the airline raised its total number of A350-900s to 40, reflecting its growing trust in this modern widebody aircraft.

The new order follows closely with an earlier agreement in August when the airline ordered four A350-900s. Out of this total, Turkish Airlines has already incorporated 14 A350-900s into active service.

Airbus’ Chief Commercial Officer and the Head of Airbus International, Christian Scherer, remarked,

We are delighted that Turkish Airlines has decided to further enlarge its fleet by purchasing 10 more A350-900 aircraft.

With greater range capability, passenger capacity, and comfort, the A350 is the perfect platform to connect Istanbul to the world.

This repeat order demonstrates the confidence in our unique new-generation aircraft that offers airlines unbeatable economics and efficiency.

We are proud to keep expanding our long-lasting partnership with Turkish Airlines and Türkiye’s aviation sector overall.”

The Airbus A350-900 has been making waves in the aviation sector with its state-of-the-art features. As of July’s end, this remarkable aircraft had already garnered over 1,000 orders from global carriers.

Besides its modern design, the A350-900 features cutting-edge technologies, optimal aerodynamics, lightweight materials, and new-gen engines.

These features culminate to give the A350 a distinct edge, offering a 25 percent advantage in terms of fuel efficiency, operational costs, and reduced CO2 emissions. Additionally, the aircraft stands out with a 50 percent reduction in noise footprint compared to its predecessors.

Currently, Turkish Airlines serves 44 passenger destinations across Africa from Istanbul this year, down from 52 in 2019 for an obvious reason.

Turkish Airlines flies to three different destinations in East Africa: Entebbe, Kilimanjaro, Nairobi, Dar es Salaam, Kigali, and Bujumbura.

Flights to Uganda on Turkish Airlines take off from Istanbul Airport (IST) and land at Entebbe International Airport (EBB) within eight hours and fifteen minutes in average.

Entebbe, one of the most popular tourist destinations in Uganda, is a unique tropical land famous for its wildlife, situated to the north of Lake Victoria. The National Botanical Gardens, laid out in 1898, are a must-see attraction here.
