REPAIRS AT LWERA SWAMP ALONG THE KAMPALA- MASAKA HIGHWAY (MASAKA ROAD: ROAD IN UGANDA) EFFECTIVE THURSDAY 11th November 2021

The Kampala–Masaka Road is a road in the Central Region of Uganda, connecting the capital city of Kampala (Uganda’s capital and start point of most of the Uganda safaris to western region national parks and Kampala day trips to the Uganda Equator line at Nabusanke) to the southwestern town of Masaka in Masaka District.

The first 36 kilometres of this road, is in the process of being developed into the Kampala–Mpigi Expressway. The Kampala–Masaka Road length 127.1 km. The south end is Masaka while the North end is at Kibuye

Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) wishes to inform the general public that effective Thursday 11th November 2021, mobilisation of materials for repair works on the damaged sections at Lwera Swamp along Kampala-Masaka road will commence.

The Uganda National Roads Authority short for UNRA is a Uganda Government agency mandated to develop and maintain the national roads network, advise the government on general roads policy, contribute to the addressing of national transport concerns, and perform certain other functions.

According to UNRA public notice, Kampala–Masaka Road motorists are advised to approach the Lwera Swamp along Kampala-Masaka road section carefully.

“Actual road works will be carried out between Tuesdays and Thursdays and the repairs are expected to be completed by Friday 03rd December 2021.

During this period, we expect some delays in traffic flow since one lane will remain open to traffic .

Therefore , all motorists are advised to follow guidance from the Traffic Police on site.

Motorists may also use Mpigi-Kanoni-Sembabule-Villa Maria-Nyendo/Masaka road (175Km) as an alternative route.
