In an official press release dated 18th May 2026, the Board clarified that Uganda has recorded only two isolated imported Ebola cases involving Congolese nationals who entered the country from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

One patient sadly passed away and has been repatriated, while the second is receiving treatment under the supervision of the Ministry of Health.

Key Facts from Uganda Tourism Board:

  • Zero local transmission or community infection within Uganda.
  • Robust nationwide surveillance, screening, contact tracing, and rapid response systems are in place.
  • All tourism activities, national parks, hotels, conference venues, and transport services continue to operate normally.
  • Uganda’s proven expertise in managing previous outbreaks ensures visitor safety.

The Board encourages visitors to maintain standard hygiene practices, such as regular handwashing and use of sanitizers, while enjoying Uganda’s world-renowned tourism experiences.
