Its a SAD FRIDAY and a huge loss at the Uganda Hotel Owners Association (UHOA), after it learned of the demise of it beloved founding father of the hotel owners association in Uganda and owner of Hotel Africana group, Hajji. Dr. Bulaimu Muwanga Kibirige also known as (a.k.a) BMK.

Dr. Bulaimu Muwanga Kibirige, was a Ugandan self-made entrepreneur, Chairman of BMK Group of companies running and managing a number of businesses in Africa and other parts of the world.
Late Kibirige was Chairman of BMK Group of companies and award-winning entrepreneur with one of the most recognizable hotel chains and brands in the region including 233 roomed four Star Hotel Africana
Hotel Africana is the preferred venue for meetings and workshops in Kampala city boasting of a convention center with a seating capacity of 3,500 delegates.
The hospitality group also has investments in Moroto in North Eastern Uganda and Hotel Africana Lusaka Zambia.
BMK also invested in real estate, construction equipment, motorcycle distributorships, and foreign exchange bureaus in Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Dubai, Rwanda, Japan, and Zambia.
Mr Kibirige died around 5:30 am on Friday 10 September 2021, from a hospital in Kenya’s capital Nairobi, after a period of illness. BMK is reported to have died from complications related to prostate cancer first diagnosed in 2015.
A close family member of the late Dr. Bulaimu Muwanga Kibirige, Eng Mubarak Ngobya told Daily Monitor, a Uganda local daily, that the family of the deceased are making arrangements of the burial.
”the family is making arrangements to have the entrepreneur’s body transported from Nairobi in Kenya to his ancestral village in Nkoowe, Wakiso District in central Uganda.”
Ugandan hoteliers, the hotels association chairperson, entrepreneurs and politicians have joined several people to eulogize Dr Kibirige.
“BMK was an epitome of goodness, hardwork, humility and he did so much for our tourism industry. He will be missed but his legacy lives on in Uganda Hotel Owners Assocition (UHOA) and all BMK Businesses!
