Uganda Tourism Board New Board of Directors Appointed

The Minister of Tourism Wildlife and Antiquities (MTWA) Hon. Tom Butime has inaugurated members of Board of Directors for Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) at a handover ceremony at Mestil Hotel in Kampala.

The new Uganda Tourism Board members includes:

Chairperson Ms. Hoareau Kakooza Pearl EarlyGift,

Ms. Olive Birungi Lumonya,

Ms. Kebirungi Sally Sandra,

Mr. Operemo Vicent,

Mr. Stephen Sany Masaba,

Mr. Vivian Lyazi, Ms. Margaret Arach Ojara,

Mr. Mulinde Tony,

Mr Kiyimba Rashid,

Mr. Kawamara Ronald Kazooba,

and Ms. Lilly Ajarova- Board Secretary.

In attendance of the inauguration event of the new members of the board was Permanent Secretary of Uganda Ministry of Tourism (MTWA), Ms. Doreen Katusiime, representatives of missions, Ministries Departments and Agencies of government, and Tourism private sector.

Hon. Butime thanked the outgoing Board of Directors for the significant milestones registered to enhance Uganda’s global tourism appeal, preserving natural, cultural heritage and driving sustainable tourism development.

Their dedication and strategic guidance has been instrumental in positioning Uganda as a must explore destination for travelers worldwide,” he said. He noted that the incoming Board of Directors has a wealth of experience, diverse perspectives, and a shared vision for advancing Uganda’s tourism sector.

The MTWA Permanent Secretary Ms. Doreen Katusiime noted that the outgoing Board has been instrumental in shaping UTB’s strategic direction and fostering collaboration across various stakeholders.

Their knowledge and experience has led to remarkable achievements in positioning Uganda as a top tourist destination.

The outgoing Chairman Hon. Migereko urged the new Board to work tirelessly to propel the tourism sector. He encouraged the new Board to pay attention to domestic tourism and ensure collaborations that foster tourism sector growth.

The new Board Chairperson Ms. Hoareau Kakooza thanked the appointing authority and the outgoing Board for the firm foundation laid down.

She pledged to continue efforts that market the country to increase exploration of Uganda.

The Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) C.E.O welcomed the new Board and pledged support to overcome challenges, seize opportunities, and realize the full potential of Uganda’s tourism sector.

Uganda Tourism Board remains committed to collaborating closely with stakeholders across the tourism industry, government agencies, and local communities to drive innovation, foster sustainable tourism practices, and unlock the full potential of Uganda’s tourism sector,” she noted.

In the spirit of continuity and progress, Uganda Tourism Board looks forward to working hand in hand with the new Board of Directors to further elevate Uganda’s tourism profile, attract more visitors, and create lasting socio-economic benefits for the people of Uganda.
