Uganda Tourism Board Welcomes New Marketing Manager to Boost Global Appeal

The Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) recently ushered in a new era of tourism promotion with the appointment of Francis Nyende as the organization’s Marketing Manager. Announced on May 6, 2025, Nyende brings a wealth of experience from the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods Sector (FMCG sector), notably as Head of Innovations and Marketing Manager for Mainstream Spirits at Uganda Breweries Limited.

With a Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Business Statistics and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration, coupled with his recent graduation from the Journey to the Boardroom program, Nyende is poised to elevate Uganda’s global tourism profile through consumer-led innovation and strategic marketing.

Uganda, often called the “Pearl of Africa,” is a treasure trove of natural wonders and cultural experiences. In 2023, the tourism sector contributed 7.7% to Uganda’s GDP (World Travel & Tourism Council), and with Nyende’s leadership, the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) aims to further position the country as a must-visit destination. From the misty gorilla treks in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park to the thundering Murchison Falls, Uganda offers unparalleled adventures for travelers seeking both wildlife and cultural immersion.

The timing couldn’t be better to explore Uganda’s offerings. Web sources highlight top attractions like Kibale Forest National Park, where chimpanzee trekking boasts the highest success rates, and Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary, which recently celebrated World Chimpanzee Day with conservationists and tourism stakeholders. For a modern safari experience, Lake Mburo National Park offers game drives, boat trips, horseback riding, and mountain biking on sprawling ranch lands.

Nyende’s appointment signals a renewed focus on sustainable tourism growth, ensuring that Uganda’s natural and cultural heritage is preserved while delivering unforgettable experiences for visitors. As the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) prepares to enforce stricter regulations on unlicensed accommodation facilities starting November 2024, travelers are encouraged to book with reputable tour operators to ensure a seamless and authentic Ugandan adventure.
