The 10th edition of the Tour of Karamoja region in Northeastern Uganda is set to return bigger and tougher in 2027, offering cyclists one of East Africa’s most authentic wilderness adventures.
Riders will tackle 764 km across nine challenging bike stages over 11 days, climbing a total of 7,300 metres along the historic Warrior Nomad Trail through northeastern Uganda and northwestern Kenya.
Organised by Kara-Tunga Tours, the expedition runs from 30th October to 9th November 2027 and finishes in the award-winning Kidepo Valley National Park.

Participants cycle remote dirt roads, mountain passes and rolling savanna landscapes while connecting with living indigenous communities that have preserved their cultural heritage and traditional way of life.
This is far from a standard bike tour. Daily distances are flexible, with longer technical routes and shorter bypass options available.
Full logistical support includes luggage transport, catered meals, drinking water, mechanical assistance and medical backup, allowing riders to focus on the experience.
Temperatures typically range between 16-34°C, and the terrain demands solid fitness and comfort with unpaved roads.
What sets the Tour of Karamoja region apart is its commitment to positive impact. A portion of proceeds supports education projects in the Karamoja sub-region, including girls’ education and vocational training for young women.
The biking tour prioritises respectful community engagement and operates with the principles of responsible tourism at its core, exactly the kind of meaningful travel experience that aligns with the values of travellers seeking authentic, low-impact adventures in Uganda.
Early bird bookings are now open. Sign up before 31st December 2026 and save €200 on the full package.
Places are limited for this signature off-the-beaten-path event that has grown steadily over the past decade into one of Uganda’s flagship adventure cycling experiences.
Whether you are an experienced endurance cyclist or an intermediate rider ready for a supported challenge, the 2027 Tour of Karamoja region delivers dramatic landscapes, cultural immersion and the satisfaction of supporting local education initiatives while exploring one of East Africa’s least-travelled frontiers.
