Nyege Nyege Festival 2026: Wakaliwood Edition Brings Music, Art and Adventure to Uganda

Uganda’s premier international music and culture festival is returning to the banks of the River Nile for its 11th edition.

Nyege Nyege Festival 2026, themed the Wakaliwood Edition, will take place from 19th to 22nd November 2026 at Kalagala Falls (Adrift Overland Camp / Kangulumira).

Over four unforgettable nights, more than 200 artists will perform across seven stages, blending electronic music, live bands, traditional sounds, club culture, art, fashion and adventure.

This year’s Nyege Nyege Festival edition takes a bold creative leap by partnering with Wakaliwood, Uganda’s celebrated independent film movement.

Parts of the festival site will be transformed into a living movie set, allowing festival-goers and performers to become part of scenes for a new Wakaliwood production.

Why the Wakaliwood Edition Matters

After its landmark 10th-anniversary edition in 2025, Nyege Nyege is entering a new chapter.

Co-founder Derek Debru described the collaboration as bringing together two uniquely Ugandan creative worlds: “Nyege Nyege and Wakaliwood share a similar spirit, creating with what you have, building your own world and sharing it far beyond Uganda. This year those two universes come together.”

The result is part music festival, part movie set and part playground, with the Nile River running through the middle.

The SO UG Stage, powered by Uganda Waragi, will celebrate contemporary Ugandan music and culture, with early confirmed names including King Saha, Sheilah Gashumba, Etania, Linus and Abeeka Band, plus more announcements expected.

Dedicated Kenyan and Rwandan takeovers, the Dub & Reggae Stage and Boiler Room will also return, reinforcing the Nyege Nyege festival’s East African spirit.
