UGANDA AIRLINES RECEIVES TWO MORE CRJ900 AIRCRAFT TO ADD MORE REGIONAL SERVICES
Uganda Airlines, Uganda national carrier, received two new Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft, which landed the national airport at Entebbe, on October 7, ahead of Uganda’s 57th Independence Day celebrations set for October 9.
The arrival brings to four the number of CRJ aircraft now operated by Africa’s youngest national airline. The airline will operate the CRJ900 in dual-class configuration with 76 economy seats and 12 first class seats.
Uganda Airline already flies direct to several main East African region destinations, including Kenya (Nairobi, Mombasa), Burundi (Bujumbura), Tanzania (Dar es Salaam, Kilimanjaro, Arusha and Moshi), South Sudan (Juba), and Somalia (Mogadishu).
The additional aircraft will enable Uganda airline to Airlines to add more frequencies to in demand destinations and expand its regional network, including South Africa (Johannesburg). Other destinations include;
1-Kinshasha, Democratic Republic of Congo DRC
2-Zanzibar, Tanzania
3-Asmara, Eritrea
4-Hargeisa, Somaliland
5-Lusaka, Zambia
6-Harare, Zimbabwe
7-Johannesburg, South Africa
8-Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
According to the tweet shared by Uganda Ministry of Works and Telecommunication (@MoWT_Uganda), two Airbus A330-800 Neo will be joining the Uganda Airlines fleet by late 2020 and early 2021 to then commence long haul intercontinental services.
“We have reached a major milestone today. In December 2020 & January 2021, we shall be receiving the Airbus Aircraft that we shall use to connect to the International world” Cornwell Muleya AG. CEO Uganda Airlines.
In his remarks, Gen. Katumba Wamala, minister of state for works in the Cabinet of Uganda, advised the media to desist from giving bad publicity to Uganda Airlines. He urged the public to support the airline rather than take to social media to spew negativity.
