Speaking during the press conference on the introduction of 30 wild White Rhinos to Kagera National Park, Ariella Kageruka, the Acting Chief Tourism Officer at Rwanda Development Board (RDB), hailed the translocation of rhinos as a historic milestone for Rwanda’s conservation drive.

The translocation of the Rhinos from & Beyond Phinda Game Reserve in South Africa has been made possible through the collaboration of different partners including the Howard G. Buffett Fndn

Addressing local and international media at Akagera Park Rwanda, “the translocation is the largest single rhino translocation ever undertaken, providing a historic milestone for Rwanda and the long-term conservation of this vulnerable species“.

Thanks to progressive conservation policies in South Africa and Rwanda, we have an opportunity to establish the species in a secure Rwandan park where their numbers will definitely grow” Said Jes Gruner, African Parks
