Uganda’s Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary celebrates another baby rhino born the night of 8th September 2023 to adult female KORI.
According to Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA), the female calf now brings the total number of Rhinos at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary to 41 healthy individuals.
Since Uganda Wildlife Authority and wildlife conservation partners, Uganda Rhino Fund started the breeding programme of southern white rhino in 2002 to reintroduce the endangered species, which by the time were extinct, the programme has resulted into 41 rhinos roaming the rhino ranch in Nakasongola.
Uganda based Animal welfare advocate and Veterinarian, Dr Richard Ssuna, posted on his X timeline following news about the rhino baby
“Impressive to learn that we are at 41!
I still recall the first couple of breeding rhinos that were translocated from Solio Farm in Layikipia Kenya back in 2002. Ziwa Ranch has done well
