Marvel at the roaring volume and power of the Nile at this sacred site, where locals come to pray for miracles. There aren’t any facilities at the falls, so come prepared with supplies. Source of the Nile - Speke Monument- Historic Site
The authentic, original Source of the Nile Site, where the British Explorer Speke first discovered the River Nile (of course the Africans knew there was a river, but anyway..). Stand where he stood, take a picture with the monument, go for boatrides across the river nile and into Lake Victoria, see monkeys, monitor lizards, pythons (and maybe even an authentic African Witchdoctor). Bujagali Falls used to be a very popular site to see raids and waterfalls on the Nile.
Unfortunately a dam constructed down stream has raised the level of the water to cover the falls.
However there is an option to take boat tour for about 2 hours to travel a few Km up the river to the base of the Owens falls Dam where there are still some rapids.
