A substantial grant of 260,000 Euros will support a comprehensive overhaul of Uganda Hotel and Tourism Training Institute (UHTTI) training programs, ensuring students are equipped with the skills and knowledge required to excel in the industry.
Uganda’s hospitality and tourism industry has been growing rapidly, contributing 6.6% to the country’s GDP and supporting over 800,000 jobs. However, the sector faces significant skills gap challenges, including:
- Limited practical training opportunities
- Outdated curriculum and teaching methods
- Insufficient industry linkages and job placements
- Limited focus on entrepreneurship and innovation
Despite these challenges, the partnership between Uganda Hotel and Tourism Training Institute (UHTTI) and Enabel presents opportunities for growth and development. The grant will support:
- Curriculum development aligned with international best practices
- Staff capacity building through modern teaching methodologies
- Digitalization of UHTTI’s learning and management systems
