The Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo (POATE) 2023 brings together tourism and travel trade partners from Uganda, East Africa and all over the world to meet new clients, network, and discuss tourism business deals.
This week, Uganda Tourism Board has officially launched the seventh Edition of the Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo (POATE) 2023, branded Explore Uganda the Pearl of Africa, the event’s goal is to promote Uganda’s tourism to international markets and facilitate linking of companies based in Uganda, Eastern and Central Africa with tourism companies from other parts of the world.
Organised by the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB), the Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo will take place at the famous lakeside resort of Munyonyo Commonwealth Resort in Munyonyo, in Uganda capital Kampala
Attracting over 100 hosted buyers, 300 exhibitors including tourism Boards, Corporate Companies and over 5,000 trade visitors and consumers, the three day tourism Expo runs every day starting Wednesday 26th April 2023 09:00 until Saturday 29 April, 2023 17:00
Activities lined up during the Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo (POATE) 2023 include physical Business to Business activities such as engagements between buyers, exhibitors and tour operators while the virtual Business to Consumer events include the 2023 Thematic Seminars.
Besides taking advantage of the networking and business and learning opportunities during the exhibition, Uganda Tourism Board is looking to attract participants to visit leading wildlife parks and other tourist-attractive sites including Kampala City, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, Lake Bunyonyi, the Queen Elizabeth National Park and the Kibale Forest National Park.

From the expansive shores of Lake Victoria to the snowy Rwenzori Mountains, Uganda is a beautiful wilderness playground, with opportunities for adventure including treks through the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest or up to the craters of the Virunga volcano chain or whitewater rafting along the Victoria Nile.
There’s also an emphasis on connecting visitors with Ugandan communities – promising tastes of Ugandan food, music and culture.
Last year saw the launch of the Uganda Cycling Trail, a 1,600-kilometer mainly unpaved 22-stage route designed to appeal to all levels of cyclist from hardcore solo bikepackers to fully-guided easy riders.
