This 14 Days Rhino, Gorilla, Chimpanzee and Wildlife Safari tour starts with a visit to the Ziwa Rhino and Wildlife Ranch in Nakitoma for rhino trekking then Murchison Falls National Park for a game drive, a visit to Murchison Falls among other activities to Amabere Caves in Fort Portal, Kibale National Park to Queen Elizabeth National Park, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park or Mgahinga Gorilla National Park for gorilla tracking, Lake Bunyonyi and finally to Lake Mburo National Park.

Itinerary

Day 1: Kampala – Ziwa Rhino & Wildlife Ranch

You will be met at Entebbe International Airport where you will be greeted by our driver. After a short briefing, you will head to Ziwa Rhino & Wildlife Ranch where you will arrive around lunchtime. Lunch will be available after you have booked into the Lodge. You will have time to relax by the swimming pool before setting off Rhino tracking later in the afternoon. You’ll return to the Lodge for dinner.

Dinner and overnight at Ziwa Guest house

Day 2: Ziwa Rhino & Wildlife Ranch

A very early (6.30am) start, to track the rare and endangered shoebill stork. This activity will take about 3 hours, after which you’ll return for breakfast, relax at the lodge and perhaps take a swim in the pool. In the evening after dinner, you’ll head out for a nighttime nature walk.

Day 3: Ziwa Rhino & Wildlife Ranch – Murchison Falls National Park

Following breakfast, you’ll have the opportunity to experience Murchison Falls National Park. You’ll book into your lodge, have lunch and in the evening you’ll head out for a game drive. You can expect to see giraffes, elephants, lions, leopards, buffaloes, oribi, Jackson’s hartebeest, Uganda kobs and many other animals and birds.

Day 4: Murchison Falls National Park

Have an early morning coffee and then set off for a game drive, taking a packed breakfast with you. You will visit the famous Murchison Falls and see the water being forced into a seven-meter crevice, thundering 45 meters below into a series of cascades. Whilst at the bottom, bask huge Nile Crocodiles!

After lunch, head out for a boat ride up the Nile to Murchison Falls. You can expect to see hippos, elephants, waterbucks and water buffaloes. Return to your lodge for evening dinner.

Day 5: Murchison Falls National Park to Fort Portal

After breakfast, your driver will take you to your next destination, Fort Portal. After booking into your lodge, you will have the opportunity to visit the hot springs, Amabere Ga Nyina Mwiru, go hiking and see the crater lakes.

Day 6: Fort Portal to Kibale National Park

After an early hot coffee, and with a packed breakfast, we’ll drive to Budongo Forest in Masindi. Here, the forest opens its doors to you for a sensational chimpanzee tracking experience. Enjoy a guided walk in the tropical rain forest in search of wild chimps. You’ll also likely see red tailed monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys and many others.

After drive to Kibale National Park with lunch en route in Hoima or Fort Portal.

Please note: Chimpanzee tracking requires a permit from the Uganda Wildlife Authority which we will incorporate into the cost of your Safari. The permit cost is USD 250 per person. The minimum age for tracking is 12 years.

Day 7: Kibale National Park Whole Day

After a relaxed breakfast, visit the Bigodi swamp where you will see different species of monkeys and birds. You can also visit the local villages where you will see women making handicrafts. After lunch, visit the crater lake area and have a swim as you enjoy this beautiful scenic area of Kibale.

Day 8: Kibale – Queen Elizabeth National Parks

After breakfast, drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, arriving about 12noon just in time for lunch. At 2pm, go for a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, a natural channel between Lake George and Lake Edward. On the cruise, you’ll see lots of wildlife. Have your cameras ready for the hippos, crocodiles, water bucks, water hogs, buffaloes and hundreds of different species of bird.

Day 9: Queen Elizabeth Whole Day

After an early breakfast, head out for a safari game drive towards the mating grounds of the Uganda Kob. Keep your eyes open for lions, elephants, buffaloes, water bucks, warthogs, kobs and so many other animals and birds. After lunch, spend some time relaxing before heading back out for another evening safari.

Day 10: Queen Elizabeth – Bwindi/Mgahinga

After a relaxed breakfast, you will drive to Bwindi / Mgahinga with a lunch break along the way. Arrive at Bwindi in the evening where you will be dropped off at your accommodation.

Day 11: Lake Bunyonyi and Gorilla Tracking

The highlight of your safari: a meeting with the gentle giants! You will love the gorilla trekking in the beautiful ecosystem of the park. You need to be prepared for a long hike (it can take from two to eight hours). Expect to walk a long distance in steep, muddy conditions, sometimes with rain overhead. But it will all be worthwhile when you observe the gorillas closely while they eat, play and rest.

This is a unique and unforgettable experience! For conservation purposes, the amount of time spent with the gorillas is limited to one hour. Your ranger guide will always brief you on how to behave with these giant apes.

Afterwards, drive back to Lake Bunyonyi. Optional activities here include canoeing, swimming, visiting the local villages or just taking it easy.

Please note: Gorilla tracking requires a permit from the Uganda Wildlife Authority which we will incorporate into the cost of your Safari. The permit cost is USD800 per person. This price is fixed by the Ugandan government. The minimum age for tracking is 15 years.

Day 12: Lake Bunyonyi Whole Day

Spend the whole day at Lake Bunyonyi, relaxing at the lodge, canoeing or swimming. In the evening you will go for a sunset boat ride to visit an historic island.

Day 13: Lake Bunyonyi – Lake Mburo National Park

After breakfast, drive to Lake Mburo National Park arriving in time for lunch. In the evening, go for a nature walk to see giraffes, zebras, topis, impalas, water bucks, bush bucks and lots of other species.

Day 14: Lake Mburo National Park – Entebbe

After breakfast, drive towards Entebbe as you head on a safari game drive. You’ll have a stopover at the Equator for lunch, shopping and photos.
