Uganda Tourism Board Represents the Pearl of Africa at WTTC Global Summit 2026 in Malta: Spotlight on Sustainable Growth and Global Partnerships

Uganda is making its mark on the global tourism stage. In early October 2026, the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) sent a delegation to the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) Global Summit in Valletta, Malta, marking an important milestone as the country’s first participation since joining the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) as a Destination Partner earlier this year.

Led by Chief Executive Officer Ms. Juliana Kagwa, the team joined more than 1,000 delegates, including over 200 leading travel and tourism CEOs, ministers, and industry leaders.

Hosted by the Malta Tourism Authority under the theme “FUTU[RE]SET,” the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) Global Summit focused on the forces reshaping the sector: seamless travel, investment, connectivity, sustainability, talent development, and public-private partnerships.

Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) proudly shared Uganda’s perspective during key discussions. Ms. Juliana Kagwa highlighted the country’s strategy for sustainable tourism growth in a plenary session on “Destination Stewardship: The Right Kind of Growth.”

The Ugandan delegation networked with global brands and decision-makers during the tourism event, generating strong interest in Uganda’s unique offerings, wildlife, culture, adventure, nature, and community experiences.

“This week, I had the honour of representing the Pearl of Africa at the World Travel & Tourism Council Global Summit in Valletta, Malta; our first since Uganda joined World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) earlier this year,” Ms. Juliana Kagwa shared. “The interest in what Uganda has to offer was encouraging. Several conversations are already pointing to opportunities for collaboration.”
