
Amuru District, located in Northern Uganda, is part of the Acholi sub-region. Established in 2006, it has a population of approximately 178,800 as of 2024. The district’s economy is primarily based on subsistence agriculture, and it is known for its fertile land and rich cultural heritage of the Acholi people. The administrative center of Amuru district is the town of Amuru, situated about 60 kilometers northwest of Gulu.
