Uganda has proudly debuted as the sole African nation participating in the prestigious Turkmen Travel Expo 2026, marking a significant milestone in the country’s tourism diplomacy and global outreach.
Led by Ambassador Twaha Matata, the Ugandan delegation showcased the best of the Pearl of Africa through a dedicated pavilion at the expo in Ashgabat.
Key tourist attractions highlighted include the snow-capped Rwenzori Mountains, the legendary Source of the Nile in Jinja, and the world-famous mountain gorillas of Bwindi Impenetrable and Mgahinga Gorilla National Parks.
Speaking at the event, Geoffrey Sseremba emphasized tourism’s critical role in Uganda’s economic transformation, cultural diplomacy, and the creation of new international partnerships.
The high-level participation also saw the Turkmen Deputy Prime Minister visit the Uganda stand, signaling strong interest in forging new tourism ties.
